Eva's Construction Program

Eva's Initiatives for Homeless Youth combines educational and apprenticeship programs, life skills workshops, recreation facilities, emergency facilities and a comprehensive youth shelter into one organization dedicated to serving homeless and at-risk youth in Toronto.

One small part of what they do is their Property Maintenance and Construction Program, where up to 12 youth per session learn construction techniques in the controlled environment of a classroom setting - they build a room inside the classroom from the ground up under the supervision of an experienced instructor. From framing and rough carpentry to basic electrical, plumbing and drywall, the program offers youth who might otherwise have few opportunities for success a pathway to a career.
